Mine was a nine-patch, and I finished the top in about three hours. Then another couple of hours to quilt and bind it.

You can make them very simple and still very lovely and not so time consuming, either. And they can be so detailed that many hours are involved. Lots of fun, gauranteed!!

Are you counting the pre decision time, the time to pick out the perfect fabrics, etc.? Then, I would say LOTS of time.

Sorry, not trying to be a smarty pants but man, o, man does that initial decision seAm to take a long time in coming. I always seem to enjoy the trip though... that is half the fun. :-D

What an awful phobia to have. I still have it and made several quilts. You must face that "binding" somehow, have a couple glasses of wine, be sure someone threads your needle, thimble on all fingers, and go for it. That'll do it.

why is everyone so scared by bindings? first binding you can do like you put on the borders. do the sides i/4 inch seam. top and bottom straight across, tuck fabric around the end so there are no raw edges. no need to miter. hand stitch back. easy!
