What a special gift! Your granddaughter will have the pictures to remind her of her first quilt (and making it!).

Just let them work at their own pace, make mistakes and let them be. Instruct in patience and love. They will be more prone to stick with it. Childrens attention span is sometimes very short. So, compliment on what they have accomplished at each session and encourage them to finish.

It is a blessing to share quilting with her. My mom gave me her love of quilting in 1989. Took me forever to get going. Now that she is gone, I wish I had completed and done more. I now have someone to pass my stuff to :P

Yes, the pics were a must! She said I could have left out the one of her eating candy. I told her all quilters do that!

She did cover up with it , did a snuggle under it, thought she would change her mind when she said it was so poofy and warm. *sigh* still wants to give it away, so, I don't want to discourage her giving heart. It will be in her teachers hand next week.

How adorable is that. My 11 y/o granddaughter sews with me when she's over. She has made a tote bag for herself, a belt for mother. She wants to make a table topper for her dresser. I told her to have at it.

Great work! I have two nephews and a niece of similar age who have made their 'first' quilt. All are very interested.
