I'm making my son a coin quilt with tans, blues, burgundy and tan sashing.

I would think almost any pattern, except dresden plate. Stars, log cabin, rail fence, ninepatch, etc, as long as it is done in blues, blacks or earth tones.

Really like your Roman Stripe. You have give me some incentive. Have had the fabric and the pattern for a year and there it sits.

I never had a pattern. We have a male friend I wanted to give a gift to, ( he is making us an oak dining table from my design). I researched on line for something I saw as "masculine" and this is what I decided to do. It was maybe my third ever quilt. I even allowed myself to be talked in to entering it into a local judged quilt show and it won a 3rd place ribbon.
