I used the free pillowcase pattern directions from Quilt magazine and it made very small cases. Be sure you are going to have plenty of room before you cut your fabric!

I use the same link and worked out the seam thing too.
Have no patience for trimming all those bits. And I also think the french seams look a bit better, than just over locked.

Hi there, I have made a few of the French Seam pillow cases & just love that pattern. I even taught my 12 year old grand daughter how to make them & she is so proud of herself. Good luck with your sewing.

Pillowcases are so fun to make.

A couple of years ago I made theme pillowcases for my grandchildren for holidays such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day and Easter.

They loved them.

I just looked at this tutorial. She did a great job. I'm going to try the French seams instead of the serger on my next ones. Always learning something new. I love it!

Go to www.missouriquiltco.com and look at their pillowcase tutorial. It is the neatest pillowcase I've ever made and I am fixing to adapt to make a pillowcase dress for my grandaughter.

Also, I make my grandchildren travel pillowcases to fit the 16" x 20" pillow. I purchase fabric that is like their interests: baseball, music, etc.

I make them the same except the body is cut 18 1/2" long x 29" wide. I make my cuff 9" and the accent piece 2 1/2", but I make it the same way as the larger pillowcase.
