you can always meke a quillow. That's a quilt that folds and tucks into a pocket to make a pillow. The dimensions that I use are 2 yards long by the width of fabric. The pocket is 1/2 yard. There are many tutes on the internet.

I think your colors would be fantastic for a teen that age. They love a quilt to wrap up in while watching TV, working on the computer, reading and just goofing off. Good idea!

I might have to look into that. Thanks.

i would recommend looking at her clothing. if possible her room. what colors/fabrics do you see. my granddaughters are 13 and 16 but neither would like the fabrics you mentioned. just not their style. sounds like you may be right on for your teen since she loved the last year gift. larger than a lap quilt would be better, i think. good luck. i am sure that she will love what you decide on.

In my opinion a quilt is always welcome. Another idea is one of those large "hobo" bags with the long straps that they wear across the chest/sholder? Kindle cover/case? Locker organizer to hang inside?

How about a big shoulder kind of bag for overnights with her friends, or a trip to the beach, or.... who knows? The fabric choices do sound absolutely right to me. I've made these kind of bags for teenage girls and have seen them used to death.

I wish I could look at her clothing and room but she lives in England! :) I know she doesn't have a laptop or Kindle but I emailed my mother-in-law and she agreed with you all that a twin size quilt would be better for her, so I guess that's what I'll be making. :) Thank you for your suggestions!

I made my 15 yo daughter an "I Love Lucy" purse for Christmas. She LOVES it! Takes it everywhere, and tells everyone her mom made it-she's even gotten a custom order for me. It's definitely one of a kind.
