Here's a spin-off thread that this thread has inspired, and I thought might be just as helpful!

I use an old rotary cutter, old 6" x 24" ruler & saved blades (too dull to cut fabric anymore) to trim wallpaper when installing it! You get so many more cuts from the blade than from the single-edge blade you would normally use. Once the blade is too dull to cut paper, it's time to throw it away. The ruler is wonderful for the edge against which to cut.

My DH has inherited his own quilter's rulers for use with his projects. He also inherited his very own magnet on the end of the extendable wand (I have no idea what this is called) - I forbade him to use my stuff when it would come back to me dirty or nicked. So I bought new for me... WOO HOO and he claimed the "old".
By the way - quilt chalk marking tools are apparently good to use with wood work too!

I use my ruler and pizza cutter to cut perfect 1 inch squares of fudge at Christmas time. I also use my ruler and old rotary blades to cut the wax paper to go inbetween the layers of fudge. I have a rotary cutter that I keep an old blade in to cut things like this.
