    I usually use wool batting,however my rag quilt was flannel & I just used 2 layers of flannel with nothing in between.

    I use batting in mine. It can get cool here in NC. I sometimes back the flannel top with fleece and then I don't use any batting. GD loves those types of quilts. Soft and warm.
