Welcome and hello from southeastern West Virginia. I've been a hand-quilter for 35 years but just started machine quilting a year ago. When I hand quilt log cabins I either use a quilting template that is a circular star pattern I have OR free hand a curved line from the center corner of log up and back down about a 1/4 inch away. Fan these around the center "fireplace" block in which I do a free hand flower shape. I don't know if I've explained it but it looks nice. I'd try drawing it out on a log cabin block and see what you like. Good luck.

Your quilt top is gorgeous and I'm anxiously awaiting pics of the finished quilt!! I wish I could offer some help on how to quilt it, but I haven't done a log cabin quilt yet.
