I am going to be watching this. My son's friend asked him if I would make him a quilt from his Harley shirts. He gave my son an old Singer in a cabinet, for me to have , if I make him the quilt. I told him I don't have room for the machine , and it will cost him alot more than that for a quilt.

A friend paid me 350.00. I was ok with that. I would have done it for the cost of fabric but she insisted. Now I do value what I do and would not hesitate to ask at least 200.00 if she supplies materials. And that would be a friends only price.

I charge $15.00 per block. I figure a block is 8-12" ...anything less than 8, I combine to make it an 8-12", I try not to do anything larger than 12", but sometimes there are larger ones. Two 18" = three 12"...and I charge that way.

The above includes everything but the sashing and backing fabric. I usually provide the fusible and the batting.

I made one for a member of our church congregation. Their son had gone to Harvard on a wrestling scholarship. They brought me an enormous tub of shirts. I ended up making two quilts as one would have been more than super king size. They had included everything from his wrestling shorts to Ts and sweatshirts. I supplied all of the materials. They kind of blanched at the final price tag. I got a little over $600 for the two quilts. On the way out the door the father asked me if he could recommend me to his friends. I haven't gotten any more requests.
