    Mary - I'm not sure if the machine would fit down in there or not but I'll surely check. Thank you for the idea!

    tarheel, It will make a great table either way.My mom had one like it when i was a kid in the 50's.You might want to put a thin piece of nice plywood on it to strengthen it and have the top not be split. Looks like it might be starting to split from age.good luck and show pictures when your finished. Mary

    I believe she also let it sit out and get rained on a few times. It may have been her trash but it's certainly my treasure!

    Welcome Tarheel girl-You didn't say if the machine in it is working? Would love to see a pic of it as I have a problem like that also. My DH cut a hole in a computer desk top & used the sliding keyboard for the base. I have a Pfaff & the sides are kinda curved so its not totally level. I guess its a work in progress. Gonna try to FMQ. Bought the slider & washers & gloves & thread but still stressed about trying!! LOL
