    Yes, quilting is the perfect hobby except for these pitfalls:

    It is addicting.
    You will need more and more space to house all your fabric, rulers, and patterns.
    Your quilting language will become that of a total quilt nerd!

    Welcome from another texan. I save all things that deal with sewing. I have a cup for threads, a plastic bag for non-usable scraps, a box for 1" scrap, a box for 2" scrap, another box for strips of fabric over 1 quarter inch. I eventually use these for some sort of crafting, quilting or sewing project.

    Welcome, from PA. I keep a small wastebasket handy for stray threads and fabric snips. When the basket gets full, it goes into a pillowcase sized bag to be used as a dog bed for the animal shelter. I also put all my selvages, batting scraps, and anything that would usually get thrown away, in the bag.
