Didn't know what lol was!

I was told by GS that LOL can mean all these mentioned just depending on where it is used.
His example was HD which can be hard drive or high definition or "your initials, Grandma"
that got him a hug, he is such a joy.

In my house it does mean lots of love. I always sign that when I text my daughter or anyone that is really close and they know that I love them. Even on here a few times when someone has pointed out something kind of obvious they put lol; It would seem to me they'd be saying lots of love and not lots of luck in that case. I guess it has more than one meaning.

I think everyone knows that but the kid was being a smart a**, thinking her mom was so dumb she wouldn't eventually figure it out. Kids nowadays seem to think of us oldies as dummies also--case in point the father who shot his daugther's laptop. They think they can get away with anything they want and we should just let them do it.

Many years ago LOL was used as an abbreviation for "little old lady" in jokes, newspaper stories etc (at least it was in Australia) so I was rather confused when I first encountered it on line. As I'm now approaching "little old lady" status myself, I'm rather pleased that it is now longer in common use!
