If you are not cutting up your techno kid fabric but want to add a multi colored border along the lines of the picture you have posted, go for it. The yellow on the top doesn't look as vibrant as the other colors you have and a gray would be a good addition, too. Could just be my computer monitor, too.

Have fun! That is so sweet that you're making a quilt for your cousin's son. You must make great quilts for him to be asking for one. Those are GREAT fabric finds for him. I wish you were my cousin.
Thanks for your suggestion. I just pulled some scraps out to see what I had. I'll have to think for a while before I start anything. You are right about the top yellow fabric. I was just laying out what I had. It's too pale for me. haha I love vibrant colors. I was also thinking of making a "scrappy" border by putting all the colors around the square. I don't know. I'll have to play with my material for a while.

I think there might be some of the "techno" fabric left. Check the gruber quilt shop site in my first post. I couldn't find the splatter paint one though on Fabric.com. Like I said, it was on clearance for $3.95. I'm so glad I ordered it last week.

He must really admire you to ask for a quilt of his own. So many kids that age have very little regard for their "elders." So sweet of you to make sure to make one that his all his own.

Perfect for the young man and I like the idea of bordering each block with the solids.

It would make a great quilt for a teen boy. Cutting your blocks either 10 or 12 inches & sash each with a different color would be really cool looking.

He will be so pleased. It's fun to make a quilt for someone who really wants one.
