I read somewhere that studies showed you get more use per cartridge w HP. That you can continue to print quite awhile aft it says its empty. I've had no problem w my HP Photosmart Plus, although it may be outdated by now.(?)

I bought a HP printer last year specifically to print from my iPhone. Occasionally I borrow an ipad 3 & I can print from that also. Hewlett Packard do a range specifically for this. Look for a model that does 'AirPrint' or 'eprint'. With AirPrint you can print from your ipad using your wifi network, no cables. With e print you can e mail what you want to print to a HP e mail address & print from there. Again no cables but obviously all this depends on you having a wifi router. The model I bought is HP 5510 (that's the model number in Europe) but the key is to look for AirPrint being available. I am presuming that older models of the ipad should work with this also

You may not be able to "hook" a printer up to it but if the Ipad has wireless then that's the way to go. If getting a new printer go with a wireless one or you can get a device to make yours like a wireless. I will only buy HP printers because they stand up to a lot of work, color is great rather its pictures or word documents and they have great support. I got mine at best buy and got the additional warranty and then extended it when it ran out. I go to Rapid Refil to get cartridges. Mine are normaly around 40 and I pay 19; they are guaranteed not to fail. I work at a hospital in the IT field and we have thousands of printers and use Rapid Refil and have no problems. Try the wireless, it should work for your ipad, it does for my Nook color.

The best, longest lasting inks for printing on both paper AND fabric are pigment based inks (as opposed to dye based inks). They are water and fade resistant; dye based inks are water soluble. Get an Epson printer that uses Epson DURABrite Ultra ink cartridges, one of the very few cartridges that uses pigment based inks for both the black AND color cartridges.

If budget is a problem I suggest HP. They have models in all price ranges. I found one at Walmart that prints, copies, scans, and is WiFi or cable all for about $60.00. The ink for it is available at my local Kroger for the same price as the office supply, but at Kroger I also get points for $$ off on gas. Oh, works great and the printable fabric sheets work fine as long as you follow the directions on the package.

That is the technically true but you would use your wireless router to connect to the printer. Therefore you want to be sure that the printer you buy is wireless capable. Also as some one said before buy inkjet type not laser. To set up a wireless connection you need a router that is wireless capable as well.you will then set up a small home network. The folks at the store where you buy the printer can help with all of that if you ask them.

You need a WIRELESS printer. There are no physical ports to connect peripheral devices to the Ipad.

I don't think my computer likes HP. I am on my 3rd HP printer in one month. Taking up to 30 min to print ONE picture. My grandson suggested I go with a cannon but when comparing they say they use more ink, there is an epson on sale that looks good on paper .....I am so confused. I have searched and compared till i am ----just confused. Any suggestions?

I love my wireless Epson. Cartridges are very affordable and does use pigment inks if I ever wanted to do photo quilts.

It was easy to set up and i print from iPad, iPhone, and laptop easily. Excellent value for the money.
