The first picture seems to me to be more cohesive.

The pattern is called Ode to a New Century. It is in the spring 2013 Fons & Porter Easy Quilts

I like the blue! It gives interest and a nice accent. To me the other choices are kind of monotone. If that is the look you want, there is certainly nothing wrong with it, and it looks good. I just like the other better.

I like the first picture. Not crazy about the ones with the blue.

I like the first picture too, I think the small blue squares distract from the beauty of the rest of the fabrics.

I also like the first picture. The blue with its print fabric would be lovely in another quilt by themselves, too.

I think the one that has blue in the flowers and dark blue in the squares is terrific.

Interesting quilt pattern! I am finishing one today. In fact, I am making two of them because I have two grandsons graduating from high school this year. The second quilt is all pieced and ready to quilt. I hope to post pictures as soon as I finish. I used some soft colors in the small squares but did add some strong red randomly and will use the same red for the binding. Otherwise, it is grays, black and deep green. I really liked the masculine and modern look (at least that is how the pattern struck me).
