    I am also guilty of purchasing extra - but you never know - well that is my theory.

    When I over-buy any fabric, and when I finally get tired of using it, I use the rest of it in a scrappy quilt back. That gets it out of my way, and it's useful too.

    I used a 100%cotton terry cloth hand towel as a starting point for the dimensions. Approx. 16in x 25in. The rounded corners were made using a saucer. For the pocket, I folded a piece of cloth in half and sewed the decorative ribbon onto it where the inserts would be before the sides were sewn to the hand towel with the backing.     that's a great idea! i think i'll follow your example and make a couple from my stash and have on hand for future baby gifts! thanks for the inspiration!
