    I "cheat" on the button-sewing, too. I get some 6-strand embroidery floss and a needle large enough for the thread to pass through, and just tie the button onto the flap. Then I glue the flap down with my glue gun, so there are no knots visible on the inside of the box.

    (I'll do just about anything to avoid hand-sewing! LOL! )

    Just thinking out loud, one could put button holes and sew the button to the box and that way it would be optional to have the flap up or down......
