Just did a bit of searching and found this. Maybe it would work.

If you double it like you would for a cuff, it would be similar to the yoga pants bands. Putting the seams at the sides, would eliminate the back seam problem. Maybe you could try altering a pair of pants you already have, with this.

There a few nursing uniform pants that have the soft knit band at the waist. Or would you be able to sew or attach a soft fleece on the inside of any regular pants to make like a cushion where it touches your back? Or make a band that rides around your hips and lower abdomen that pads your spine? Kind of like a garter belt.

A lot of the new stretch jeans and athletic pants are being made now using rib knit for a waistband, but I don't have personal knowledge of how it works. I think you would need a knit that doesn't have too much stretch or they would fall off. You could always have the seam on the side.

The very comfortable Jockey underwear are called "Comfies". I wear them, I finally bought new ones although my 10 year old ones are still "like new". They are very durable and do not pill. They have no seams. I used to have to wait till I went to a big city, outlet Jockey store, but they are now available at Kohls.
