I use invisible thread on the top for SID. On the bottom I either sue matching or contrasting threqad cdepending on the lok that I want. Just beware of using light thread on the top and too dark thread such as block on the bottom and you might get "dots" of the darker thread showing on the top.

Me too! Just bought some smoke colored invisible to blend in with the darker tops.

I buy almost all my thread online. Most companies offer thread cards with real thread samples of all their colors so you can match the thread at home then buy online.

Just a note of caution: invisible thread may not knot tight enough at beginning and end of stitching..so be extra careful and do some back stitching.....

As far as SID thread color...because it will be buried between the pieces and most will not be seen readily.... nuetral....beige,linen,etc. on lite and grey on dark is my choice. Backs......usually the same as front.......

In regard to what thread to purchase at JoAnn Fabric...they carry Sulky and Gutterman (in addition to Coats & Clarks, and Signature brands). I personally like the Gutterman thread. Comes in many colors and my Janome likes it. Can't give you any hint on which weight to use (I believe the one I use most often is 40 wgt). Ask at the cutting area, someone there could probably help you. Or do what I do, ask one of the other customers! Thread color I would use: match back with blue, match front with neutral or invisible. Just my opinion.

Anita

P.S. Superior Threads makes a wonderful bobbin thread called "bottom line". It is thinner than the thread you use in the top side of the machine. All of Superior Threads are wonderful. They sell in both LQS and online.
