I have been using Overdrive for years. I can't sew or work in the garden without a professional actor reading books into my ear. I was always hooked on books on tape and CD, but Overdrive widens the selection and offers a very wide range of books. I especially like that I can specify the grade level of the books so I don't have to sift through kid books when I am browsing "all fiction" or another broad category.

In case anyone reading doesn't know how it works -- you download the books to your computer through your library's website. Then there are several things you can do with them. I "transfer" (in Overdrive terms) them to an MP3 device -- like an iPod, but not made by Apple. Then I can listen to them any time, any place.

Thanks for the reminder. My niece told me about this recently but I haven't yet taken advantage of it.

Booksontheknob.org and pixelsofink.com are great sites and often offer free books
