As I read your post, I was thinking wavy lines in the red and white stripes. I guess all great minds think alike. lol I really like your quilt--perfect for a man.

Thanks for all your suggestions... wavy lines in the stripes seems to be a common theme!

I think the wavy lines would be great and perhaps stars inside the star. Beautiful

I just finished a flag quilt and I did free motion quilting. Very happy with it.

I found a free pattern at Walmart for a flag-type quilt. I thought it would be very appropriate for my grandson, who is currently working to achieve his Eagle Scout rank. After I made the quilt up using three flags wide and five flags tall and added the suggested sashing, I knew it needed "something" to make it pop a little more. I went online and found a "mod" version of a spread-winged eagle. I printed out fifteen copies and pinned them to the quilt top, centering each one of the flag blocks. I free-motioned along the lines of the eagle, then tore the paper away. Each flag was emblazoned with an eagle on it. I did some SITD along the edges of the flags. The eagles really made the quilt very special. My grandson will not sleep at night without his quilt on the bed -- even in the summer!

Your quilt top is so beautiful that it probably doesn't need any more than the suggestions made here. I am very jealous of your straight lines and perfectly formed stars.

Your quilt is lovely and I, too, vote for the wavy lines in the stripes, and a bit fancier in the stars. He will love it.

I agree with Jan. wavy lines then outline the stars to make them pop a little.

agree - wavy lines in stripes will give movement. I would do a small star in the center of the star. beautiful quilt!
