I think it is a beautiful quilt as is. You may like some special quilting in the white spaces. It is amazing what quilting patterns can add to the spaces. Good luck on your decision.

How about echoing about a quarter inch away from the zig zaggy lines of the dresden blades. Then echo again a half to three quarters of an inch away and fill that area in with circles or pebbles. Kind of a addaptation of this from sewkindofwonderful http://sewkindofwonderful.com/blogs/...-chevron-quilt. Then you could do more echo quilting or whatever. I bet ideas would start flowing. I'm doing this on a quilt right now and really like how it's working out. It isn't too difficult on a smaller quilt. Yours may be harder since it looks pretty big. Also, a pale yellow thread would be pretty agains the white, I think. It's a lovely quilt. Hope you have fun quilting it!

Thanks everyone for the input - Wishful, I appreciate that link which looks really good. The quilt isn't that big it is a lap size so I think I might give this a go.

Just depends on the batting you used and what you are comfortable in quilting. I would go with an accent yellow inside border and then the blue on the outside. Blue and Yellow alwasy makes such a happy quilt.

My mom hand quilted all her quilts and when she did the fan quilts (and she did many of them), she had a pretty rose with a leaf on each side that she quilted in the white spaces--very pretty!

It is pretty as is, with just quilting in the white areas would be beautiful. If you put something of color, it might be too busy. I love it.
