I'm snuggling with a cotton/flannel quilt that I made right now...very cozy, but not heavy. It did get crinkly after washing, but that was what I was after.

I had this same question to myself yesterday. I washed up all the flannel I have on had, and was thinking of a baby
quilt pattern I could use. I wanted to use flat cotton for the top but really didn't know how that would go.
thanks for asking the question for those of us who do not know.

Many of us make the top with cotton and back it with flannel so it should be fine to do the opposite!

Please understand, flannel is a finish for a fiber. Cotton is a fiber. Most likely your flannel is cotton or at least a cotton blend.

And the answer is yes, you can use smooth cotton with cotton flannel.

I guess I didn't see it as cotton since it doesn't feel like regular fabric cotton.

Did you use batting with it? or leave it as is?
