    Coasters is a great idea for the guys. My mom sewed a lot when she was younger, but never a quilter. I got my quilting genes from her mother who was a great quilter.

    coaster, mugrugs and magnets.
    tea purses are very specific, and not many people use or know what they are for.

    Maybe a "photo" block (8"x10" maximum size) of your Mom with the other person? Print photo on fabric, border with fabric, then put in a dollar store frame. (Think square in a square block with the photo as the center). This would be the "ultimate" remembrance, but this is just my opinion...

    Please wish Mom a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY from me. (My Mom turned 97 this past February 28th.) May your Mom have many more happy and healthy years ahead and many more years to make wonderful memories with you, your family and her friends.
