I make 15 inch squares for my t-shirt quilts. After adding interfacing, I cut each t-shirt, leaving about 1 inch around each design. Then I add sashing to make a block slightly larger than 15 inches and then trim down to 15 inch blocks. If I have two small designs I may include two designs in each block. I do not use the same sashing around all the designs. I use sashing that highlights the particular design. Your blocks will all be the same size and see together easily. My first quilt was made using the pattern T-Shirt Memory Quilt by Four Corners Designs as a guide.

On a couple of occasions I have had t shirt blocks that were too small for the design I wanted. I used the back of the
t -shirt as extra fabric to sew to the block. I interfaced the fabric and sewed it on to the block wherever I needed it. You can see the seam, but it looks fine - it is a quilt - it's supposed to have lots of seams!
