For me, cutting scraps and making string blocks are relaxing--plus, you have something to show for that time spent relaxing.

I just saw Ditter's tute on string quilt. Trying to decide on the backing and batting. Make use of some of the old fabric I have that I'm not particularly fond of but like Bonnie Hunter says I can just cut it into smaller pieces.

Working on scraps is a good way to work on any bugs with your machine, also.

I love working with scraps. Started sewing together 1.5" stamps from scraps on July 4th. They looked so cute I couldn't stop. I ended up making over 100, 4.5" squares.

This is exactly what I do, I was stuck on making hexies, now since this past weekend, I've started making puffs/biscuits for a biscuit quilt or quilts, have already made 124! Got me an assembly line going, I use the glue stick, and glue the first 2 corners, then do the pinning, get about 10 pinned, then sew! LOL!

Yes, sometimes I just need some "mindless sewing" especially after a quilt that was a little challenging or if you just want to relax & sew. It is just fun to do.

It's ok. That's a good way to relax. Other projects will call to you. Maybe your mind just needs to relax and recharge. At least you are using up scraps in the process.

I love scrap quilts and I also love that I have no deadlines any more so I can work on whatever I want.
