I have a standard form with all of the pertinent info.

    Date dropped off
    Name, address phone, e-mail addy
    Size of quilt
    Quilting: Custom or pantograph
Comments for custom....comments for which pantograph was chosen
Batting type or a box that is checked if they brought their own
Backing chosen or a box that is checked if they brought their own
Thread color chosen or a box that is checked if I get to decide
    Misc Special instructions

I circle how the customer wants to be contacted when quilting is done (phone, e-mail, etc.)

I have a policy that states that all quilts not picked up within 30 days of completion, unless prior arrangements are made, become the property of my company. I had to do this once when a customer had to have a quilt by Christmas (it was done in time....), but she did not have the funds to pick up, so she ignored my phone calls and picked up in Spring.

I do not do "Rush" quilts. Everyone is first-in, first-out. I do put an approximate completion date on it, and I am always running ahead of that schedule.

I've never had to worry about what to do with an unclaimed quilt, thankfully. Usually, customers are so tickled to have them back that it is not an issue.

My turnaround is less than 2 weeks on pantos and 3 months on custom. Customers are told this when they drop their quilt off. Mail order customers are told this when we are e-mailing.....
