    My bias is to add a slim inner border and a wider outer border to "frame" a quilt. (This look will be finished by a slim binding, of course.) But this is a traditional approach. If your quilt is contemporary, it might be better without any borders (except for the binding). As Jane Quilter said, you should also consider the finished size you're aiming for.
