I started a binder with protective sheets and have kept fabric swatches with the pattern information and who I made them for...however, I have not been diligent about keeping track of the baby blankets I have made... Only the larger quilts.

I consider myself a total novice too. I have a neighbor/good friend who is my mentor. But all the help I can get is much appreciated.

all you guys that keep journals! My admiration to all of you!!! I do have pictures w/ closeups, but that's about it - maybe sadly. Right now I remember who they were made for or completed for. I'm not so worried about size. Many of the quilts that I make have specific specs - a space on the wall, for a certain size person, etc.

I will agree that it is nice to go down memory lane remembering all the quilts that i have made or completed over the years.

A fabulous suggestion. I wish I had done that. I even have made some as gifts and don't have a picture.

I take a picture of each quilt I make along with a pix of the recipient, if possible. Then I put it a scrapbook type book (with plastic sheets). I write a little about each by the picture - scrapbook style. I have told my husband and kids that it goes on the memory table at my funeral by any other paraphanailia as it is an important part of my life..........

I'm almost finished with my first quilt, so perfect time to start... Out of curiosity, I decided to track how long it would take me to make the quilt (I'm hand quilting), so I've been tracking my hours. I like the idea of a binder showing completed quilts with stats.

Thanks for the tip. My first quilt is at the quilters right now. So, this is a good place to start.

All great ideas but with quiltingboard.com, you have make your journal right here under albums. It's where I have recorded my quilts. NOW I wish I had made measurements and more details information, but all my finished quilted are right here!!

I just don't see any reason for a journal. Ask the nephew what size was the previous baby quilt?? If you made one for the first, I am sure they won't be surprised for the 2nd> Maybe it is because most of my quilts I make are for charity and a photo is all I need. JMO
