Remember it has to be refolded with opposite selvedges. Too much yardage at one time made it awkward for me to fold and cut. 1 1/4" yards will give you 16 10" blocks. This pattern is fun and happy to make.

A few years ago I did a similar design, and it was called "Yipes, Stripes!". Pieces could be arranged in any manner, which necessitates more concentration. It is so important to cut accurately and have the stripes lined up. It was a lot of fun to make!

Daylesewblessed that is a great layout. I'm going to make my next one like that. I'm looking for that pattern. It seems a little different the then MSQC one.

I was wondering if you only cut two layers instead of four, would all the pieces make the square design? I know cutting four layers some of the cuts will result in different designs. I guess I should cut some and see.

One of the differences is that the instructions for my quilt did not cut 10" squares from 4 layers. It was a matter of cutting half square triangles (if I recall correctly) from a 2 layer fold. The principle of getting the stripes laid out evenly before cutting is the same for both methods.

I think this design has as many possibilities as there are striped fabs out there! Hmmm, I think somewhere in my fabric mountain I may have a stripe...hope it's at least 1 1/4 yd. so if one wanted to make a larger size, like lap, 2 - 1 1/4yds would do?

    You'd get 32 9" block after piecing.

Thanks for starting this thread and for members who added their own designs. I went and watched the msqc video, too. Next time I see a stripe on super sale it will certainly be going home with me!

ps. I googled quartered stripe quilt images and found some great pictures to admire.

I have no stripes in my stash, but I definitely will be going out to get some. I thought I had seen all of the MSQC tutorials, but I surely had missed that one. Thanks for bringing it up. The pictures posted are all lovely.
