I always use YLI Soft Touch thread - 60 weight and have great results. I use YLI silk thread for applique as well - thread just disappears into the fabric.

For piecing I mostly use Superior's Sew Fine 50 wt. for paper piecing I might use 70 wt and for English paper piecing I use 50, 70, or 100 wt threads. 100 wt silk for hand appliqué.

I'll join you two there! I use Aurifil for piecing and quilting. For piecing I use neutrals, beige/gray type, except for mainly black fabrics where I use black.

Usually Essential thread from Connecting Threads, or Aerofil (not Aurafil; my local Janome dealer has spools for a buck). Sometimes Coats and Clark.

I use 50 weight SoFine by Superior. I use either a light gray or a medium beige no matter what the block colors are. I use the gray most.

I had never been partial to any thread. whatever neutral I grabbed. lots of times, from Walmart. BUT I caught a 50% off sale at joann's onetime, and got some gutterman? 1000 yard spools. Now I just love it. I sat a filled like a dozen bobbins from spool. hooked..........
