Great pics, Patti---We have wild turkeys, too.

I can't tell you how much I enjoy seeing them. (I've even been know to sprinkle some birdseed around for them) We have one gimpy one who we call Senor Gimpy who comes with two hens regularly. I am surprised he has lasted so long and hasn't been taken out by some predator.

My mother-in-law used to get a wild turkey for Thanksgiving every year. They were raised on a farm and allowed to roam around. There was less white meat, smaller breasts and the turkey had a distinctive flavor that was different than store bought turkeys. They were GREAT!

Yeah..I thought it was cool that they came up so close to the house today of all days! Deer season is open though, so I'm just as happy that they are hanging on our farm and not is the woods across the road. I do hate that they don't go to the back where they can't be seen from the road.

Yes, I'm a farmer, but also an animal lover...tree hugger....just big 'ole softie! Everything is safe, spoiled and pampered here with us! Now if I could just explain to the deer they all need to stay in "our woods" through the season... :roll:

We could never shoot a "pet" wild animal...if they were close to the house...they are all pets and fed... Don't know why that thought changes if we drive 30+ miles away.... :roll:

So that's where my wild birds went!

We have them here on the farm, too, but since bow and arrow season started haven't seen them. Deer shooting season started Mon., but with the snow coming tonight and tom., we may have the hunters here longer. Alway's brings the deer out of the high country. They know they have sanctuary here on our property. Usually a herd of around 30.

Love seeing them out in the wild, what a neat white one and a good target for some hunter :cry: We had a skunk that came thru the yard the other morning, he was buff, or yellow color, no black on it at all. Kids saw it one night when they came in after dark. Last week we looked out the front window and a covey of quail were headed across the front yard, went under the lilac bush a few minutes and them came back across. Usually don't see them up close to the house either. Especially with all the cats. Thank you for the great pictures, just love being out in the country with all the critters :D
