If you are doing an allover FMQ, flip it over so the flannel is on top. I just did that with a lap quilt. I couldn't see where I had quilted working from the top.

Yes, Yes, Yes! It is less expensive that way, and, if the flannel sheets are of good quality, they will last a very long time. If you buy a flannel sheet set, you also get a pillowcase that matches the backing. The flannel sheets go on sale in late January to March, so that is the best time to buy!

I have used flannel sheets for backing for years, as have several of my quilting friends. So cozy

I've used them as backings as well batting when a lighter quilt is wanted.

Those of you that have used flannel sheets as backing, any recommendations on specific brands?

I have done this for years for small laptop throws for kids. My daughter started this when she was making throws as gifts for her friends in high school to take to competitions (the stands get cool in the evening waiting for the awards!). They were warm and yet small enough to roll up into a backpack and easy to launder. And, added bonus- you can get a very large one very cheap!

I love this pattern...do you remember where it came from?

This isn't flannel, but it is a goodwill sheet (or was) that I am making into a quilt back. (Not my first, won't be my last)

Years ago we had "white sales", meaning sheets etc but I have not heard of any in ages. I wonder if it is a regional thing or am I just not observant??? What stores in your are have them????
