    Sounds like a pot holder quilt which were popular during the Civil War.

    Jera Brandvig also teaches QAYG. She has some tutorial videos on the Fat Quarter Shop website or You tube. Her fabric designs are also beautiful!

    I do QAYG and have found Leah Day has great info and tutorials on her site Leahday.com. I also found good tutorials and information on theGourmetQuilter.com.

    I have both of her books, Quilt As You Go Made Vintage, and Quilt As You Go Made Modern. Both are really good.
