I use tweezers, brushes, pipe cleaners, floss, never the canned air. I've been told and have read that the canned air isn't good for the machines because it causes moisture where there shouldn't be and also, it blows the junk in the machine farther into the machine.

I also clean the bobbin area out after every 3 bobbins.

I use the small vac for computers and pipe cleaners. I also never use canned air.

I use new mascara wands that I bought on Amazon and a mini-vacuum. The wands are soft and let me pull lint out without removing the cover so I do it a lot. After I finish a few bobbins, I remove the cover and give it a good cleaning.

A quick dusting with a small paint brush with every bobbin change goes a long way towards keeping things fairly clean. Every so often I take things apart and use qtips, pipe cleaners and the paint brush to remove what ever I missed.

I find a makeup brush works wonders, the lint sticks to it, and the bristles are softer and can go to places the brush that came with machine cant

I use pipe cleaners and the little brush that came with the machine. Canned air would blow the lint further down instead of pulling it up and out, I think. Just MHO.

Wow is all I can say. I just am amazed at this forum and all that I have learned here, today I learned I may have saved myself a lot of headache. Thank you so much for the responses. I googled canned air/sewing machine cleaning, everyone is spot on. I did not realize there was a fine mist of liquid too. I will not use it again on my beloved Janome. I'll experiment with pipe cleaners, paint brushes, makeup brushes and figure out what works for me. Again thank you so much. And after looking at my pictures on here, looks like I need to remove the plate a little more often too.

I'm another that uses a small vacuum. I was also told to be careful with canned air. I started using the vacuum on my LA - and that has helped keep the lint from accumulating behind the bobbin case where it's hard to get at with just the brush. I do that with each bobbin change.

I purchased an attachment for my canister vacuum cleaner that I can put a small plastic flexible hose onto and suck out all the "stuff". Also use it on my computer keyboard. Works great and nothing blowing around to settle some other place.
