now this is the best idea if you are going to all the wrok to make, allows them to save for their tree and would be a nice reminder of you and it will not break, yea!

I just finished making a box of 12 "Four Season" note cards for my friend's birthday. They were 4.25 X 5.5 blank note cards w/envelopes. Most of them were layered and sewn landscape scenes, though I did include one machine applique per season. I used fabric scraps from my stash. Very fun project ... rather addicting. Designing the scenes was the most time consuming aspect. I designed the scenes onto a square of Pellon 809 Decor Bond, slightly larger than note card. Then I cut it down to 4.25 X 5.5 and attached to the front of the card by sewing 1/8" all around. Which looked very neat on the inside of the card (I did not want all the stitch lines and threads to be visible from the inside). Hopefully I can post a photo soon.
