I applaud you! Getting out of your comfort zone with colors is hard to do..and you've done it well! Now you will have a whole new world of patterns and colors that will appeal to you. Well done..love the colors and the pattern.

Oooooo!!! I love it!! It looks great and the whole quilt will be stunning.

Your work looks perfect to me - so I am not sure you need suggestions - lol - but I am a big fan of paper piecing and have done a couple of curved pieces and this is what worked for me. On the projects I did, the pieces that were where your pretty floral print in the corner is and the center pink (or red??) I cut larger in all directions. I am a pinner, so I marked the exact ends, center and quarter points and the extra fabric at the ends gave me some extra wiggle room as I usually start pinning at the center of the curve and work out in both directions. Once sewn I put a large square on the two corners and squared it up.

Thanks eparys; yes I love foundation paper piecing....I enjoy Judy Neimeyers' patterns but they are soooo expensive I usually wait for a sale at a LQS to grab one so when this book was gifted to me I was thrilled. There are so many different blocks and options to play with it will keep me busy for ages I reckon! Thanks for the tip about cutting the background pieces a bit bigger...will definately give that a go.

I made a round stool that had wedged pieces and they were paper pieced. But I also have a wedged ruler that I think would accomplish the same thing. I would attach the flying goose to the strip of matching fabric and then use the ruler to create the wedge. You piece is beautiful. I may have to try using my wedge ruler to see if I can create the same thing. Good luck.
