    Dark purple as the primary binding

    consider using the gold as an accent doing Charisma's flanged binding method - it will give you a thin "bead" of gold against the dark purple and would be gorgeous!

    Here's one I did with a darker gold main binding and a burgundy accent

    Another vote for dark purple, for both being a nice frame for the quilt and for showing dirt less. I think having a flange of light purple might look really nice.

    I agree with Iceblossom on the Gold. However my preference is a dark purple for the binding if not the gold. Solid colors no matter what. You want to make a statement about your quilt.
