I made my middle son and dil a wedding sampler a few years back. I had it professionally framed and when I went to wrap it I noticed I forgot to sign and date it. I was so mad!!
I managed to gingerly take a corner apart so I could. It worked.

i tried cross stitch but didn't care for it that much. I prefer embroidery. Always have to be sitting in a comfortable chair while doing it. Back in the early 70's I could do even in dim light but not anymore. Have to have good, bright light.

i love counted cross. I've done a lot and for awhile, i quit quilting and took up counted x stitch.
it was much cheaper than quilting, but kind of the same in many ways.,
looking forward to seeing your completed piece.
Very nice as a gift to the vets office.

I have never done cross stitch but I am glad you have a project to do. Hope you heal fast and take care of yourself.

I'm another one that loves counted cross stitch! I stitch faster in natural daylight, but also work on my projects in the evenings. I used to use a running stitch with sewing thread making a grid, but now just use a wash a way clover blue marker when I want the grid on the cloth. I keep my stitching projects by my favorite chair, but also have a tote to put it into quickly to take to appointments or if hubby wants me to run someplace with him. I love the metal sheet with magnets to keep my place marked and I like to slip my pattern with that metal sheet into a clipboard to hold it nicely for me.

Thanks ashley333 ... great tip! My eyes aren't what they used to be. I have been taking my pattern down to a print shop and having them blow it up ... now if I could do the same with the Aida cloth it would be a win/win!
