My suggestion is to ask her if she'd like a shawl or a lap quilt. When I had treatments my entire body was cold, especially my legs and feet. I took a quilt and wrapped myself in it.

they look like christmas tree skirts. Those patterns would probably work if you cut the center hole a little bigger?

Default Quilted Shawl - does it exist

Wonderful of you to want to make a shawl for your friend. My husband is on dialysis so I asked the little quilt group I belong to help make quilts for the patients at his unit The patients sit in large leather chairs like you find in a dental or optometrist office for about 4 hrs at a time. Their blood is removed, cleansed and then returned. In the summer they are in air conditioning. ALL of these factors make them very cold all over, not just shoulders. Most of us used the popular 3 yard patterns to make small lap quilts, just the right size for the chairs. The patients get to keep the quilts and use them there and at home. Please be sure to use bright, fun fabrics. My husband got one with a kid' print o giraffes. It gets lots of smiles!

Lovely idea! Heck, I'm not sick and even I'd like one of those for TV watching.
