What a wonderful quilt! So meaningful for the recipient. Your quilting is fantastic! It really sets off the vehicles. And putting your daughter and SIL in one of the buses was a stroke of genius.

Now Pam I can relate to these VW vans and thought about making my sister one. The pattern I found was Applique though but I’d rather do a pieced one like yours. The addition of the pictures were genius! I know they loved receiving this quilt. You found a nice border fabric too. Everything shows how well thought out this quilt was. Love it!
oh, I wanted to ask about the tires. Is that a stripe fabric or does the quilting make it look like treads? The quilting is very nice as well.

This is so cute and brings back memories. When our daughter, now 40, turned 16, her uncle restored a '76 Volkswagon beetle for her. I made her a pillow of it and put her in the driver's seat and luggage in the hood that opened LOL Love your project and the thought you put into it!

I don't like applique either. The pattern is "On the Road " by Satomi Quilts. There are a lot of tiny pieces so I used a lot of labeled zip lock bags. I never thought of using striped fabric for the tires. That would have been good. I quilted the treads.

I used printer fabric on my home computer. Probably the June Taylor brand.

Thanks Pam for getting back with the info. I reviewed your quilt again and love the windshield wipers on one of the vans! So creative!

Thanks Pam for the update on how you did your photos. I so enjoy looking at this quilt. Toogie pointed out the windshield wipers quilted on one of the vans....love it. Also that you quilted the tires to get the treads...I thought it was stripe fabric.
