    When I was young, my dad would take me out to look for mushrooms on the farm. Puffballs were a fall treat. Now, we don't have that kind of land, although I'm sure my brother would let me wander the farm in search, if I wanted to. The thing is, I don't trust myself enough to know the safe ones anymore. We do sometimes get puffballs in our yard. They never taste as good as they did when my mother cooked them. She used crushed cornflakes and pan fried them.

    My MIL always made dandelion salad, and used dandelions in greens and beans. We don't use chemicals in our lawn, but I'd still be concerned about run off/drift from the neighbors. No more wild foods for me!
