I was trying to point out the difference between the browser program and other more likely sources of infection.

Take it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy. They are so good, and if they can't fix it, I bet they can save all of your files to a new computer.

I have learned that viruses can turn your virus protection off. This happened to my moms comp, it was the second time she got hit with a virus this year.

After that happened to me and it cost an arm and a leg to get it fixed (money I COULD have used on fabric) I told everyone that if they downloaded anything, they were going to loose fingers!! There is so much junk out there I'm almost afraid to download anything.

I had that happen when I was browsing google once.
That sounds like what I had about three weeks ago... it didn't come from firefox, thats what the virus wants you to believe. This way you'll use Internet Explorer which is so very unsafe and leaks out all your personal information.

My computer friend had me download and run Malwarebytes. There is a free version of this on it's site and works wonders. I ran it on quick scan and it removed the horrendous virus. I ran it a few times afterwards to be sure. Let me know if you want the site or you can google it.
