Why do you need a special pattern for 'reversible quilts'? Why not just make two different tops then use one for the back? Of course, I wouldn't make two intricate tops for the picky woman! lol

Yes I made this reversible "Steelers" quilt. It is tied. It really wasn't hard to do.

My late MIL was a peach and loved anything I made for her and everything we did for her, or even if we just visited with no gifts. I was very fortunate to have had her for a MIL.
Reversible quilts have been around for a long, long time. I was gifted an antique quilt the other day that was reversible. If you're making one side in browns and blues, and plan on making another top to put on the other side, why not just ask her what colors she'd want? Personally I'd just make two quilts. Maybe she'd like somthing in Spring/Summer colors.

i always put just as much thought into the back as the front, i think pretty much every quilt i've ever made can be put on the bed with which ever side you are in the mood for at the time. they may not always be peiced but the ones that are whole cloth, the quilting is good enough to look great on the back too.

I have used two quilts on the same piece, I love the idea of having 2 patterns , depending on my mood... it's no different than a peiced back, you're so creative, you'll do a great job & she'll wonder why she was even concerned about it to begin with.
