Welcome from New Orleans. I recommend you start with a simple nine patch. Just check the tutorials - and if you get stuck - post here and we'll get you moving again.

Thanks, everyone, for your advice and warm welcomes. I did some investigating yesterday and discovered some 'closet' quilters at church - about 10 of them. They've suggested doing a nine block? Sounds relatively easy - for a beginner anyway, so I'll give that a go. Thanks again for your help. Andrea.
