I have found that it really helps in alot of applications
We are just conditioned to only use it as per directions!
sometimes it helps to step out of the box!

It doesn't work too well when you try to zigzag. but other than that it works really well.

Wow! after reading all the answers to this, i feel so dumb! I never thought of leaving my walking foot on. I only use it to quilt! I didn't realize i could use it any time. Thanks for this info. Now i won't have to stop and take it off to keep sewing.

I never take mine off. I never thought to take it off. I use it for all my sewing

Can I ask why you don't use it for stitch-in-the-ditch?

Good Morning. I have tried many times to use it for stitch in the ditch, but I kept missing the ditch! Probably because my skill level isn't high. I use a foot that I can butt up against one side of the ditch, and I keep it more steady. Not sure that makes a lot of sense (it's early). It has been months since I have sewn in the ditch, but I will be doing it soon as I have a baby blanket to do. I might give it another try.

Thanks for the post...it got me to thinking about giving it another try and now it is a challenge to make it work. :)

I have the IDT on my Pfaff and it is a built in walking foot. I use it for everything.

This is the reason I love my Pfaff. It has the built in IDT (walking foot) which allows me to use just about any foot with it engaged. I always use the IDT when piecing or generally sewing because the fabric feeds more evenly.
