Unless you live somewhere reallllly cold, I would not use batting with minky, it would probably be too heavy a quilt.

Minky is also bulkier, so it will be a little harder to wrangle while quilting it.

Thanks so much for your replies, it's made me more confident in using it. I just purchased some fleece online...so we'll see how that goes! :-)
