I have an old computer desk and have my cutting mat on top of it. It is pretty deep a little over two feet. It doesn't have four legs but two sides so I raised it off the floor with two cinder blocks laid underneath. It is the perfect height now and doesn't kill my back.

I hung a peg board on the wall above it to hold my rulers and all the other goodies I have.
