It happened again today!! This time I had both my husband and daughter hod the vase of roses and this one was a bit untrusting, but after several minutes came down and drank from the roses again. The we coaxed it out the door!

Good job on the roses.. Sounds like you may need to keep them handy.... They are a beautiful bird.

Never had a hummingbird get inside, I did have another kind of bird get into the house, I opened the storm door open, turned off the light and finally he flew to the outside, it was then lighter (early morning) then it was inside.

A few yrs ago a hummer got stuck in our closed in porch.
We could not get it to go anywhere near the doors.
so Larry got up on a chair and pulled down a section of the screen thinking the bird would excape thru it.Well for some reason the bird DID recognize the open area at Larry's fingertips as an escape route. so it flew to that corner .Then it perched on Larry's hand. ! ! ! ! !

If green was a good color ,on me I could have turned green with envy .. ! ! !!

Oh BY the way...the little hummer did leave by that little opening Larry made

My feeder is on my open front porch. When it gets empty the hummers buzz in front of my door and chirp until I go and fill it. They then fly right up in front of my face and float for a few seconds then go feed. Feels like they are saying "I'm hungry" and "Thank you". Does anyone else have Hummers that act like this?

Wow, that is so cool. To be able to see one so close up. And how kind of you to take care of them.

Yes, my hummers do that too. The girl gets really close to me all the time. No so much the boy.

If one gets "stuck" someplace and you don't have roses, all you need to do is find a piece of clothing or towel that is pink or red. Stand just outside the door and the bird will come to you.

Come to think of it, I need to go change the food in the feeder - its getting hot.
