Love your quilt !!! My rule is when in doubt add black. I do not know about using fleece on the back but I have started using Minkey fabrics for backing. Luxuriously soft !!! and qilts up really nice.

I have used fleece as a border with cotton in middle and then other fleece on back. It works fine to mix fabrics on front and adds a nice soft touchy feel to it. love the color combination.

What about a narrow strip of the red-orange and then a wider strip of plain black?

I like this idea...and your quilt is gorgeous by the way.

I am putting together a rail fence for my son....was going to back it with black fleece (I had masses in a box). I put it through the wash as it had been stored a while and when I brought it in, I realised it is going to show every cat hair and bit of fluff/debris around. My son has a cat, so now I have decided to use the fleece as batting and back with cotton. I am guessing it depends on the brand/furriness of the fleece, but thought I'd mention it.

Their dog is a black lab and the kitty is fairly dark gray. That's why white wasn't one of my options LOL

The orangy-red is exactly what I was going to search for first!
